Welcome Message

Market Analysis

In 2014 around 422 million adults were living with diabetes, compared to 108 million in 1980. The worldwide predominance of diabetes has almost doubled since 1980, ascending from 4.7% to 8.5% in the adult populace. Diabetes has taken numerous lives, crudely 1.5 million deaths in the year of 2012. Higher blood glucose has taken an extra 2.2 million deaths on that year. Diabetes expands the dangers of cardiovascular and other metabolic illnesses. Mostly middle-aged people are affected by diabetes and other diabetes-related metabolic diseases. Around 43% of these 3.7 million deaths happen before the age of 70 years. The risk of premature death is higher in low and middle-income countries than in high-income countries. Because sophisticated laboratory test is usually required to distinguish between type 1 and type 2. Globally, high blood glucose causes about 7% of deaths among men age between 20 to 69 and 8% among women aged between 20 to 69.

The risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, leg amputation, vision loss and nerve damage are higher in the diabetes patients. Diabetes in pregnancy can leads to autism. It also may increase the risk of fetal death and other complications.

The direct annual cost of diabetes to the world is more than USD 827 billion. According to a recent survey of IDF (International Diabetes Federation), the diabetes health-care spending on diabetes was more than triple over the period 2003 to 2013. The market of the Diabetes Medicare and the number of the diabetes people increase proportionally.

Recent studies assess that the losses in GDP worldwide will be total USD 1.7 trillion from 2011 to 2030, including both the direct and indirect costs of diabetes This loss will comprising USD 900 billion for high-income countries and USD 800 billion for low- and middle-income countries.

According to the market researchers, the world diabetes drugs market stood at a market valuation of around USD 43.1 billion in the year 2016 and expect to rise to USD 58.4 by the end of 2025. The compound annual growth rate for diabetes market was 3.6% over the period of 2017 to 2025.

Diabetes in the UK

Diabetes is a major problem in the United Kingdom, almost 3.7 million people living with a diagnosis of the condition in the UK. And the number of people diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes has increased by almost 0.1 million since last year from 3.6 million to 3.7 million. An about 90% of total diabetes affected patients are Type 2 and rest 10% is Type 1. In the year 2016 and 2017, the total number of Diabetes patients in England was 3.1 million followed by the Scotland 0.3 million, Wales 0.2 million and Northern Ireland 0.1 million. Approximately 12.3 million people of UK have a higher blood glucose level and Pre-diabetes symptoms. The West Yorkshire city of Bradford has the higher number of the diabetes people, while Richmond in London has the lowest number of the diabetes people (approx. 3.6%). There is a large healthcare and treatment industry has built up around it the UK. 11 largest pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies producing diabetes-related products or the products that will enhance the speed of diabetes research. Some of the companies conduct research and development activities and market analysis to provide the best medicines to the diabetes Patients.

Scientific Sessions/Tracks

Session on: DiabetesHypertension and Metabolic Syndrome

A cluster of cardiometabolic abnormalities that increases an individual’s risk of diabetes mellitus, coronary heart disease, and cardiovascular disease is Metabolic syndrome. The core components of metabolic syndrome are glucose intolerance or diabetesobesityhypertension, and dyslipidaemia, specifically hyper-triglyceridemia and low levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Obesity is an established risk factor for diabetes mellitus and a central component of metabolic syndrome. Not surprisingly, therefore, the increasing prevalence of obesity is being paralleled by similar increases in the number of persons with diabetes mellitus or metabolic syndrome. Both the metabolic syndrome and diabetes mellitus give an expanded danger of coronary illness and cardiovascular infection.

Session on: Insulin and Diabetes

Insulin is normally secreted by the beta cells of the pancreas. At the point when insulin is exhausted, impeded or obliterated inside the body, it cannot manage the measure of glucose in the blood resulting in diabetes. Insulin resistance is when cells in your muscles, fat, and liver don't react well to insulin and can’t easily take up glucose from your blood. Type 1 diabetes happens when the body lacks insulin to regulate blood glucose levels whereas Type 2 diabetes is described by the body not responding effectively to insulin.

Session on: Diabetic Complications

Complications of Diabetes account for increased morbidity, disability, and mortality and represent a threat for the economies of all countries, especially the developing ones.  Diabetic nephropathy, neuropathy, and retinopathy are the primary microvascular complications instigated by chronic hyperglycaemia by means of a few mechanisms, such as the generation of glycation final results (AGEs), the production of a proinflammatory microenvironment, and the induction of oxidative pressure.

Session on: Pediatric Diabetes

A condition where a child's body can no longer produce Insulin hormone. This juvenile diabetes develops in the child over a period of weeks. The most common cause of type 1 diabetes is the body’s immune system attacks the insulin secreting beta-cells in the pancreas. Just 5% of individuals with diabetes have this type of the infection. Around 1.25 million Americans have type 1 diabetes and an expected 40,000 individuals will be recently analysed every year. With the aid of insulin therapy and other treatments, children can manage their condition.

Session on: Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is an intricacy of diabetes and the main source of vision disability and blindness among working-age grown-ups. It happens when diabetes harms the small veins in the retina, which is the light-touchy tissue at the back of the eye. Diabetic retinopathy may prompt diabetic macular edema (DME), which is a swelling in a zone of the retina called the macula. Constantly high glucose from diabetes is related with harm to the small veins in the retina, prompting diabetic retinopathy. Treatment for diabetic retinopathy is regularly postponed until the point when it begins to advance to PDR, or when DME happens. Thorough dilated eye exams are required all the more every now and again as diabetic retinopathy turns out to be more extreme.

Session on: Glucose Monitoring Devices

A glucose monitor is an insignificantly invasive gadget that is intended to quantify and record glucose levels constantly and naturally in patients with diabetes. The gadget measures glucose esteems in the interstitial liquid of subcutaneous tissue. The objective of these gadgets is to record patterns of glucose levels and utilize these to direct patient administration and enhance general glycaemic control. A Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device is an assistant to supplement, not supplant, standard home glucose observing for patients with diabetes.

Session on: Hypertension and Cardiovascular disease

Hypertension is the most important risk factor for premature cardiovascular disease. Hypertension accounts for an estimated 54% of all strokes and 47% of all ischemic heart disease globally. Increases in blood pressure above 115/75 mmHg, progressively increases the risk of stroke and coronary disease. The increase in blood pressure could be a marker for other risk factors such as dyslipidemia, glucose intolerance, and the metabolic syndrome. The causal role of hypertension in cardiovascular complications is an improvement in outcome with antihypertensive therapy.

Session on: Renal Hypertension

Renovascular hypertension is caused by renal artery stenosis. Most renovascular hypertension develops from partial obstruction of one main renal artery, although only a branch need be involved. Renal artery stenosis may have manifested as either unilateral or bilateral. The two most common causes of renal hypertension are atherosclerosis and fibromuscular dysplasia. Atherosclerosis of the renal artery is the cause of stenosis in 90% of cases, and it usually involves the ostium and proximal third of the renal artery trunk. It usually affects patients over 65 years of age with known cardiovascular risk factors such as obesityhypertension, hyperlipidaemia, hyperglycaemia.

Session on: Hypertension in Pregnancy

Hypertensive disorders during pregnancy happen in women with previous essential or auxiliary chronic hypertension, and in women who grow new-beginning hypertension in the second half of pregnancy. Hypertensive issue are basic complexities of pregnancy, influencing 5% to 10% everything being equal. Roughly 1/3 of hypertensive disorder in pregnancy (HDP) are because of constant hypertension and 2/3 are because of gestational hypertension, preeclampsia. The range of the illness ranges from mildly elevated blood pressures with minimal clinical significance to extreme hypertension and multi organ disfunction.

Session on: Pathophysiology of Metabolic Syndrome

Abdominal obesity and insulin resistance are seen as the centre imperfections underlying the pathophysiology of metabolic syndrome. These two hazard factors are very interrelated in this way, it is hard to determine which one assumes the overwhelming part in metabolic disorder pathogenesis and movement. Similarly, the metabolic syndrome pathophysiology is muddled by contributing elements, such as dysregulation of fat tissue, determined cytokines, irritation, hereditary qualities, race, physical latency, consume less calories, hormone lopsided characteristics, medications, and age. It is unlikely to expect that metabolic syndrome is caused by a solitary fundamental imperfection, rather blend of various hazard factors, fundamentally determined by corpulence and insulin opposition. Some examples of metabolic syndrome disorders include fibrosis, Phenylketonuria(Pk), Gout, hyperlipidemia and rickets.

Session on: Management of Metabolic Syndrome

The essential objective of metabolic syndrome administration is to diminish the danger of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The vital method to achieve this objective is to establish way of lifestyle interventions that target the life hazard factors like obesity, physical inertia, atherogenic diet, and smoking. Metabolic syndrome factors such as atherogenic dyslipidaemia, elevated blood pressure, or prediabetes can profit by way of life intercessions. On the off chance that metabolic syndrome is available in patients with existing ASCVD or diabetes, way of life strategies and pharmacologic treatments ought to be founded by current accord rules to diminish inconveniences related with these conditions.

Session on: Case Studies on Metabolic Syndrome

20% of the adult population have the metabolic syndrome and they are twice as likely to die from cerebrovascular diseases compared with people without the metabolic syndrome. Case studies aims to look into the spreading and clinical implications in subjects with metabolic syndrome compared to normal individuals. These studies provide insights on the various clinical aspects of the metabolic syndrome from pathogenesis to development of drugs and testing the targets.

Session on: Clinical trialsDiabetesHypertension and Metabolic Syndrome

The clinical trials of diabeteshypertension and metabolic syndrome involve observational studies of a drug or therapy that has been associated with adverse events. These trials also assess whether the treatments are more effective than other existing treatments. Clinical trials are an essential way to understand more about diabetes, hypertension and metabolic syndrome. There are several clinical studies and initiatives working on finding a remedy to these disorders such as TrailNet, GRADE, RADIANCE and ASCOT.
