A condition where a child's body can no longer produce Insulin hormone. This juvenile diabetes develops in the child over a period of weeks. The most common cause of type 1 diabetes is the body’s immune system attacks the insulin secreting beta-cells in the pancreas. Just 5% of individuals with diabetes have this type of the infection. Around 1.25 million Americans have type 1 diabetes and an expected 40,000 individuals will be recently analysed every year. With the aid of insulin therapy and other treatments, children can manage their condition.
